This song is about overcoming obstacles. I was a troubled youth growing up and I had to work really hard to push past all the negativity and be confident in myself and my goals no matter how difficult life became. Living on my own at 16 did not come easy and I made a lot of sacrifices to make ends meet but it gave me the drive that people admire today. I believe that you gain something special when you don't have things handed to you all the time and that is what this song really represents; the young men and women that are going to make a life for themselves with nothing but determination and perseverance to help them on their way.
