They start you when you're young
When you learn your abc's
If you try to go against
They'll put you on your knees
Most will teach it's black or white
Never about the areas of grey
So you'll be unprepared
When thrown out in the fray

(Chorus)
Gazing every morning at the early morning lies
They'll tell you that it's all ok
Yet the rivers still run dry
You even listen to deceit while stuck in the traffic jam
Also from a once thought wise uncle sam

Either brought up in a church house
Temple or synagogue
You've still been told who is your one true god
You say some books a decade old are a bit out of date
But a thousand year old text should dictate every ones deal
And that's not up for debate?

(Chorus)
Gazing every morning at the early morning lies
They'll tell you that it's all ok
Yet the rivers still run dry
You even listen to deceit while stuck in the traffic jam
Also from a once thought wise uncle sam

While hiding behind the scenes
They tell us what they please
Branding them as sinners
And tagging them as saints
Warped by attacks ads running all the time
Do they really think that they're so damn divine

(Bridge)
A vote for tomorrow
Is a vote for me
I have the vision
I believe in community
Only I know how to set you all free

(Chorus)
Gazing every morning at the early morning lies
They'll tell you that it's all ok
Yet the rivers still run dry
You even listen to deceit while stuck in the traffic jam
Also from a once thought wise uncle sam

Always under the microscope
But you've never done a crime
No problem for the nsa
They could have you doing time
It's for protection they say
Can't help feeling betrayed
We'll proclaim that it's alright
Till they spy on you one day

Everything they do
Throughout your whole life
Whether played on radio wave
Or relayed by satellite
It's kept in the dark
A plan inhumane
Something really quite stark
But they know that you're the mark
They'll try to fit you to their mold

You've been brainwashed

Brainwashed

Submitted by: Sean Mangelsen

A pessimistic view on the upbringing of youth and beyond. I imagine a sort of dark type song. Influenced by the gloomy almost apocalyptic sounds of David Bowies albums "Heroes" and "The Next Day"
