U-Turn
Lingering/ like a leftover dream/
After an/ interrupted sleep/
Remembering/ fragments of a whole/
Coming back/ when it’s dark and you’re alone/
Sleepy conscience/ and an impatient lonely heart/
Independence/ suddenly has never been this far/
Falling backwards/ even though your gravity’s weak/
Because it’s easier/ than carrying my own weight on my two left feet/
My eyelids/ are slowly getting heavy/
Closing my eyes to/ the inconceivable ugly truth/
At the moment/ ignorance is pure bliss/
Until consequences/ catch up with you/
Like a boomerang/ reason finds a way back in and/
Why I left/ tempts me into leaving you again/
And you let me go/ you don’t stop me because you think/
It’s an endless cycle/ you take me for granted knowing I’ll diffuse back in/
Halfway home/ I almost make a u turn back to you/
But I don’t/ Maybe it’s time to start a new route//
We have all been caught up in a vicious cycle before; whether it be a relationship that will not end well or an addiction to something that numbed the pain and allowed us to feel again. This song is about being able to break free from those cycles that prevent us from reaching our full potential. It's about finding a new route rather than making a u-turn every time we find ourselves lost.
