This is a song is about what Canadian identity looks like from the perspective of a refugee coming to Canada. It discusses the fact that fleeing to Canada is not an easy progress but it is worth it if they can feel the fundamental right to safety and they will know that their children will not grow up feeling the fear that they did. The phrase "I Won't Disappear" refers to the fact that in Canada we care about every person and if someone were to slip through the cracks, people would notice, and people will care.
