Listen to Matt Blais’ winning entry!

Make Music Matter and Western Union Canada are giving young people the chance to have their music heard and to shed light on global issues and the pressures youth face.

The My Song for Change talent contest is encouraging musical self-expression, knowing that music has the powerful ability to heal, connect, transform, and enrich lives. So let your song(s) tell your story and inspire positive change!

Participants of the My Song for Change talent search can upload their original musical composition using one of the following formats: 1) Lyrics Only, 2) Audio Only, or 3) Performed (audio, and video).

A public online voting system will determine the top 10 finalists and an expert panel will judge the final 10 to pick a winner.

Important 2014 dates:
Submission deadline: June 8th
Online voting deadline: July 25th
Winner announced by: August 15th

Prize: Not only will the winning song be developed into a music video, it'll also be professionally recorded and produced with Sam Roberts!

Contest Requirements

We’re looking for original songs that lyrically not only enlighten us about young people’s issues, but also inspire and challenge us to make things better.

Musically (if you’re choosing to send a musical performance too), the song can really take any form, from rap to classical to country and everything in between.

So go ahead and make it your mission to move us – evoke tears, joy, laughter, sorrow, make us think – through your words, melodies, or both!

Note: Minimum age of entry is 16 with parental consent. See Official Rules for more information.
